Cholesterol is a fat content found in body cells. Cholesterol is useful in the manufacture of vitamin D, hormones and other products used in the digestion process. The body/the liver has the capacity to make the cholesterol it requires. Cholesterol is also found in animal proteins: eggs, cheese and meat. High levels of cholesterol in the body is dangerous as it combines with other substances to form plague which sticks to the walls of blood vessels- a condition called atherosclerosis. Plague accumulates over time, thinning blood vessels leading to coronary artery disease.
Heart attack also known as myocardial infarction is a critical health condition that results from the blockage of the heart’s coronary arteries. The blockage of blood vessels can occur in any part of the body. It, however, becomes critical if it affects a major body organ. The blockage can be due to blood clots and other deposits that such as cholesterol/plague.
Such a blockage limits the flow of blood to the heart muscles resulting in death of tissues. There are three types of heart attack: non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI), ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and coronary spasm, or unstable angina. STEMI and NSTEMI are major heart attacks.
The below graphical representation shows the 4 four types of heart diseases, common in both men and women.

You certainly know about it by another name but never cared about it. It is the hardness of arteries caused due to the excess of cholesterol plaque in blood. The more shocking fact is that 50 percent of these women and 35 percent of the men die due to this arteriosclerosis. There are several programs designed to prevent diseases related to heart or to at least enable the patient to sustain against any disability caused by cardiac disease or to protect them against death.
